Abigail lektorka angličtiny
English instructor (native speaker)

Abigail

Abigail is a native English speaker and an experienced teacher who leads playful, natural, and experiential English lessons for children at Braníček. She also works at several Prague language schools with various age groups, which allows her to adapt the pace and teaching style to each child’s needs.

In her lessons, she combines play, songs, movement, simple conversation, picture books, creative activities, and basic drama. She engages children naturally, boosting their confidence and building a positive relationship with English without any pressure or focus on performance.

My story

I am truly passionate about teaching English to children, and I love watching how naturally and joyfully they absorb the language when they feel safe and supported. For me, teaching is not just about vocabulary and grammar — it is about opening a door to a new world full of sounds, stories, rhythm, curiosity, and communication.

My journey with children began through one-to-one childcare, which taught me to see each child as a unique individual. Very early on I realised how different children are in the way they learn: some need lots of movement and energy, others need structure and clear steps, and some learn best through creativity and imagination. My job is to find the right approach for each child so they can relax, enjoy the process and learn without pressure.

I have worked with children who love English from the very first minute, and also with those who feel shy, anxious, or unsure about speaking. These experiences have taught me patience, empathy, and how to support children emotionally. When a child feels seen and respected, they start taking small risks — trying a new word, repeating a phrase, reacting spontaneously. Those small steps are often the biggest victories.

What I appreciate most about Braníček is the calm, cosy environment and small groups. It allows me to truly get to know each child — what motivates them, what challenges them, when they need encouragement or a moment of rest, and how to adapt the lesson to keep them engaged and confident.

In my lessons, I use a mix of approaches:

  • songs and rhythm to encourage natural speaking

  • picture books to develop understanding and vocabulary

  • role-play and drama to build confidence

  • movement-based activities to release energy

  • creative tasks to spark imagination

  • simple conversation adjusted to age and ability

I love seeing children grow gradually — sometimes with just one word, sometimes with a full sentence, and sometimes simply with the courage to respond in English without being asked. These little breakthroughs make a big difference.

My goal is to help children feel comfortable, confident and relaxed in English. I want them to experience language as a natural part of play, communication and daily life — not as a school subject they must “perform”.
