At Braníček, we offer two sophisticated licensed methods that guide children from their first encounter with English to more independent communication in their school years. Teddy Eddie is designed for children aged 2 to 7, while The Bearton Twins follows with courses for school-aged children from 8 to 15. Both methods combine systematic teaching with play, movement, stories, and the practical use of English.

The courses follow a natural progression, but children who are just starting with English can easily join any of them.

Teddy Eddie

Playful English for children aged 2 to 7

As the only certified Teddy Eddie method centre in Prague, we offer courses for children as young as two. Four consecutive levels naturally guide them from their first encounter with English to independent communication and their first steps in reading.

What makes the Teddy Eddie method special?

  • Learning in full sentences and context: English is not taught as isolated words. Children learn whole phrases, stories, poems, and songs through natural use and sentence context.

  • Movement, gestures, and stories: Natural movement is used (TPR – Total Physical Response elements), along with reactions to instructions, skits, and games led by the mascot—Teddy Eddie the bear, who speaks only English.

  • Personal interaction: Teaching takes place exclusively in person in small groups (typically twice a week), ensuring proper social interaction with the teacher and peers.

  • Close cooperation with parents: The teacher briefly summarises the lesson material after every class. Once a week, they send an email overview, and at the end of the semester, a detailed descriptive report.

  • The course includes the Playground app with interactive games and recordings for home practice with a parent. All games and activities correspond to the programme children use in class with the teacher, and practice vocabulary from the current block.

Consecutive levels – you can start at any of them

The individual levels follow on from each other but are primarily adapted to the child’s age and developmental stage – Start (2–3 years), Standard (4–5 years), ABC (5–6 years), and Superhero (from 7 years). A child can therefore enter the programme at any age directly into the corresponding level, even if they haven’t completed the previous ones.

The method is based on repetition and the gradual consolidation of language. Familiar vocabulary and language structures return in new songs, stories, games, and situations, so children gradually expand their knowledge and begin to use the language more and more naturally.

Even children who stay at the same level for more than one year do not repeat the same course.

Start

For the Start level, two different sets of learning materials alternate every other year.

Standard and ABC

For the Standard and ABC levels, there are three different sets that rotate each school year. 

This way, the child works with different stories, songs, and activities every year, while naturally returning to important vocabulary and language structures and consolidating them in new contexts.
English for children aged 2–3 - Teddy Eddie Start

Teddie Eddie Start (2-3 years)

At this level, the youngest children take their first steps in English mainly through catchy songs, dancing, and sensory games. The teddy bear involves the children so naturally that they immediately pick up the correct accent and soon respond to their first English commands without any hesitation. The ideal start to build a love for the language in children from age 2.

Teddie Eddie Standard (4-5 years)

Here, we already experience plenty of skits and fun with the teddy bear. At this age, children soak up a foreign language like sponges and mimic pronunciation fantastically. This level takes full advantage of that. Children no longer just listen passively; they start speaking themselves and naturally put together full English sentences.

Teddie Eddie ABC (5-6 years)

A level for older preschoolers where the teddy bear becomes a partner for big debates and language games. We talk a lot and slowly try our first steps towards reading. Children understand the spoken word without problems, express their thoughts fluently, and enter first grade with a huge head start and healthy self-confidence.

Teddie Eddie Superhero (6-7 years)

Fluent speaking, advanced topics, reading English texts, and a huge boost of confidence for the school desk.

Bearton Twins

Modern English for school children aged 8 to 15

Bearton Twins English for kids 8–14 years old in Prague 4

The Bearton Twins is a follow-up licensed English teaching method for primary school children (approx. 8 to 15 years old). It is an ideal continuation of the Teddy Eddie preschool course, but also works perfectly as standalone effective English tuition. For those just starting with English, those discouraged by school lessons, or those who need a highly flexible approach. It is a great alternative for students who need a calmer pace but still want to achieve real results in communication and school English lessons.

Main advantages of the Bearton Twins method:

  • Full sentences in natural context: Children don’t just encounter individual words from textbooks; from the first lesson, they learn to use full sentences in real conversations, fun activities, and games. As a result, they gradually lose their fear of speaking, are more willing to actively use English themselves, and thus gain what is often missing in traditional school teaching—confidence and naturalness in conversation.

  • Stories that children can relate to: The teaching is guided by animated twins Alex and Suzie. Through their stories, children encounter common life situations of their peers and learn to use English in a context they understand and enjoy.

  • Learning through movement and play: Lessons combine movement activities using the TPR method with board games, comics, picture cards, and catchy raps. Alternating different activities helps children better understand and remember new material. Thanks to the dynamic flow, it is also easier for them to maintain attention even in the late afternoon hours, after they have already spent a full day at school.

  • Support for school English: The course consolidates and expands the vocabulary and grammar that children encounter at school. It helps them better manage school lessons and tests and gradually improve their results—without monotonous drill.

  • Repetition that makes sense: New vocabulary and grammar naturally return in subsequent lessons through different stories, games, and communication situations. Children thus gradually consolidate them and can use them more easily later on.

  • Fun practice with The Bear App: As part of the course, children have access to an app with interactive tasks and audio recordings. They can briefly review the material at home in a playful way that entertains and motivates them to practice regularly. At the same time, they develop correct pronunciation and reading skills.
